Co-operative Bank Launches New First Time Buyer Mortgage Service 28/10/2005

The Co-operative Bank has launched a new mortgage campaign which aims to help first-time buyers climb on that important first rung of the housing ladder.

In the wake of widespread media coverage revealing the difficulties facing people buying their first home, The Co-operative Bank is offering three new products which could make a difference:

  • A parental guarantor mortgage.
  • A ‘no deposit’ or 100 per cent mortgage.
  • A graduate mortgage.

  • A new Co-Operative Bank telephone service will also be provided to first-time buyers, which promises to direct customers to a specialised advice team with a guarantee the same person handles their mortgage application throughout.

In addition, the Co-Operative Bank will also be launching a ‘First Time Buyers Guide’, available via download from its website.

The guide features a wealth of information for first-time buyers on issues such as: how to choose the right type of mortgage, how to select and deal with estate agents and solicitors, and how to choose the many different types of surveys available.

The guide also includes a glossary of mortgage terms and conditions.

The company says these are just the first developments of a first-time buyer service which is set to grow with additional products and services added over the next few months.

Co-operative Bank Director of Marketing David Newman added:

“Buying a home for the first time is a frightening prospect for a lot of people and, as such, we appreciate the need to offer ongoing help and guidance throughout the process.

“Both our new product range and the telephone service are an example of us looking after our customers, increasing the choice of products available to them and providing them with a convenient and easily accessible way of doing business.”
