First Direct Extends Commission And Fee-Free Online Travel Money Offer 04/12/2005
First Direct has extended its commission and fee-free online travel money offer until 31 January 2006.
The new currency exchange service, first launched in June 2005, gives holidaymakers a competitive exchange rate and next-working-day home delivery for their foreign cash and travellers cheques.
The normal £3.95 handling fee will be waived until 31 January 2006 for all existing First Direct customers applying through internet banking and for anyone else wishing to exchange more than £500.
Recent research from Moneyfacts.co.uk reveals just 55 per cent of consumers shop around for the best deal on their travel money.
Some providers charge up to two per cent commission plus handling charges.
The online bank’s chief executive Richard Kimber said: “With 70 different currencies, our online travel money ordering service has proved so successful that we’ve decided to extend the offer until the end of January. So now, with holidaymakers starting to book their skiing trips travellers seeking some winter fun will be able to get a great deal on their holiday money too.”
UK citizens take an amazing 61 million overseas trips each year.
