The Consumer Credit Act

First introduced in 1974, the Consumer Credit Act (CCA) is the primary legislation governing the credit industry for amounts up to £25,000.

The act covers the rights of the consumer and the standards required from anyone providing consumer credit. Any company or individual who wishes to provide or arrange credit facilities must be granted a licence to do so by the Office of Fair Trading.
